McGourty has impressed for the Antrim GAA team this season |
Antrim GAA forward Conor McGourty is in line to make his debut for Irish Premier League side Donegal Celtic in the CIS Cup on Saturday. The 19-year-old played for DC's reserves last season and he is likely to play against Limavady as boss Paddy Kelly is minus a number of regulars.
"Having watched CJ play often I know he can tune his talent into soccer without a fuss," said Kelly.
"I'm always willing to take a chance on a player."
Kelly will be without midfielder Tony Heagney, winger Ciaran Gargan and striker Paul McVeigh because of family commitments.
McGourty, who previously had a trial with Peterborough United, will train with Donegal Celtic on Thursday evening in advance of Saturday's game at Celtic Park.
Realistically, DC need a win to keep their qualification hopes alive after they lost last weekend's opener against Crusaders.

"CJ has been with Donegal Celtic for a number of years and last season often played with our reserve team while he was an under-18 player," added Kelly.
"I have no doubt the lad has the talent to play football as a professional, he is super-confident."
McGourty is still involved with St Gall's in the Antrim Championship and was part of the side that defeated Rasharkin last Friday.
However, this does not present a problem for the player or Kelly, who added: "I respect any guy who is committed to his chosen sport and there's no issue with CJ playing gaelic football or hurling.
"It's a case of 'wait and see' regarding his application to Donegal Celtic and if he feels he has a productive future in soccer, only he will make the choice. In the meantime I am very excited about having him on board."
Another exciting talent, winger James Lavery, could be recalled for Saturday's game.
Midfielder Stephen McAlorum will strengthen the Celtic squad having served a one-match suspension last week.
