Pat Fenlon's Derry have lost their last three league games |
Derry City manager Pat Fenlon said he understood the fans' anger after his side lost for the third time with the league season just five matches old. "I am disgusted and embarrassed," said Fenlon after Monday night's 4-1 defeat at home to Cork City.
"I am disappointed for everyone at the club. It is not something I am used to but it has to be put right quickly.
"I do not blame the crowd for getting annoyed. This is a results business and there are consequences."
Derry are seventh in the Eircom League Premier Division with six points from five fixtures.
Their next match is away to Waterford United on Friday night so former Shelbourne boss Fenlon does not have much time to work on where things are going wrong.
"I cannot put my hand on it but I believe we have the players to run this around.
"It is a matter of whether you want to do it or just sit and mope about it.
"We have the quality but you have to put in the graft and that is what we are not doing at the moment.
"If you are beaten 4-1 and have lost a few games, I as manager have to look at what we are doing on the training pitch and in matches."
