Michael Collins has been an influential player for Portadown |
Portadown midfielder Michael Collins has handed in a shock transfer request. The 29-year-old asked to be placed on the transfer list after being substituted during last weekend's 2-0 league defeat to Ballymena United.
However, the transfer window closed on 31 January and the highly-rated Collins has two years left on his contract.
Shamrock Park boss Ronnie McFall has rubbished claims in a weekly newspaper that he had a bust-up with Collins and did not want him at the club.
"Everyone at the club knows he asked for a transfer after the match at Ballymena," McFall told the News Letter.
"Since then he has not appeared at the club for training or treatment."
McFall added that he will be seeking legal advice over allegations made in the newspaper article.
Collins has been a key player for the Ports since moving from Cliftonville in 2001.
