Candystripes give trials to pair
Pat Fenlon
Pat Fenlon is looking to add to his Derry City squad
Derry City are giving trials to former Lincoln and Burnley striker Karl Bermingham plus ex-Swansea and Wrexham goalkeeper Ryan Harrison.

Twenty-one-year old Bermingham, who spent for years as a trainee at Manchester City, has played for Newry in the Irish League this season.

Bermingham is a former Republic of Ireland youth international.

Harrison, who is 20, is currently playing for Nationwide Conference side Forest Green Rovers.

While Pat Fenlon has yet to add to his Derry City squad, two players are currently on trial at Brandywell.

The first is 6'3" goalkeeper Ryan Harrison, who's 21. Born in Northampton in England, he has had spells with both Swansea and Wrexham, but is currently attached to Conference side Forest Green.

The second player is another 21 year old. Karl Bermingham is a 5'10" striker who was born in Dublin. A product of the Manchester City youth system, Bermingham played league football for both Lincoln City and Burnley. He also played in the Irish League for Newry City last season.

Derry City manager Pat Fenlon has appointed Tony Gorman as his assistant.

Former Finn Harps manager and Linfield and Coleraine player Gorman will form part of a backroom team which will also include John Glynn and Dave Henderson.

Former Galway and St Pat's player Glynn will be the club's fitness coach while Henderson, who worked with Fenlon at Shels, gets the chief scout's role.

Fenlon has also revealed that he is currently abroad looking at possible additions to the Derry squad.

"Some players have been recommended and over the next few days I'm away to have a look at them," Fenlon told BBC Sport.

"If they're up to standard we'll probably bring them back for pre-season before we sign anything but we're also trying to sign players in Ireland.

He added:"I'm more than happy with the squad we've got but we've got to add three or four players to it maximum."

Fenlon still has to appoint a goalkeeping coach to replace Declan Devine.

Since Fenlon's arrival at the club, Stephen Kenny's previous backroom staff Devine, Paul Hegarty and Colm O'Neill have left the club.

Players Clive Delaney, Stephen O'Flynn, Mark McChrystal and Shaun Holmes also left the club after not having their contracts renewed.
