Linfield celebrated another Irish Cup triumph in May 2006 |
Oxford United Stars goalkeeper Niall Walker is desperate to avoid another Irish Cup hammering when the minnows face Premier League champions Linfield. The Second Division side were thrashed 11-0 by Glentoran the last time they reached this stage in 2003.
And keeper Walker is aware many people are expecting another landslide at Windsor Park on Saturday.
"There was a huge gulf in quality when we played Glentoran. There was not much we could do about it," he said.
"Apart from the result it was a great day for the club. But the standard was so much higher than ours.
"I came off after about 65 minutes, but it was already 7-0 by that stage.
"It has not played on my mind. We were in awe that night.
"We know what to expect this time and I hope Linfield put out a strong side because I would rather be beaten by their top team.
"If we could get a goal or two that would make us happy."
