Linfield goalscorer Glenn Ferguson fires in a shot |
Glentoran stay five points ahead of Linfield at the top of the Carnegie Premier table after a 1-1 draw between the sides at Windsor Park on Tuesday. Glenn Ferguson headed the Blues ahead on 17 minutes for his 16th goal of the season after Elliott Morris had saved a Paul McAreavey effort.
Gary Hamilton equalised on 42, firing home the rebound after his initial effort hit the inside of the post.
The Glens had the better of the second half chances but could not score again.
The prolific Ferguson reacted first to bravely head over the line into an empty net to break the deadlock.
Darren Lockhart mishit a shot for Glentoran soon after before Hamilton found the net with his 21st of the campaign.
After the break Peter McCann had the goal at his mercy but his poor shot was cleared by Pat McShane while Michael Halliday missed a glorious chance, Alan Mannus saving his effort.
McAreavey was just wide of the post with a shot for the home side.
