David Jeffrey saw his Linfield side lose at home to Lisburn Distillery |
David Jeffrey has demanded a positive response from his Linfield team after the shock defeat to Lisburn Distillery in the County Antrim Shield semi-final. The Blues, who won all four domestic trophies last term, have now lost the Shield and the CIS Cup and face leaders Glentoran in the league next Tuesday.
"Tonight the players fell short of my expectations," said manager Jeffrey.
"That is two competitions we have gone out of now because of missed penalties. It is ridiculous."
If Linfield lose to Glentoran they would slip eight points behind their fierce cross-city rivals.
Jeffrey said he had planned to give his players a night off on Thursday but has now summoned them to training.
"They will have to come in and we will also have a further session on Saturday morning," said the Blues boss.
"I am very disappointed to lose the trophy and also about the way we played."
