Distillery's Stuart Thompson was denied by Turkington's clearance |
Stephen Hynds struck six minutes from time to give Armagh victory over the Whites in Saturday's Carnegie Premier League encounter at New Grosvenor. Distillery dominated the game although City had the best first-half chance when JP Donnelly skied over the bar.
Damien McLaughlin hit the crossbar and Mark Turkington cleared Stuart Thompson's effort off the line as the Whites pressed for the breakthrough.
But Hynds snatched an unlikey City win by netting from Shane Coney's cross.
John Martin went closest for the home side in the opening 45 minutes with keeper Gavin Cushley keeping out the forward's strike.
Cushley also saved from James Bell's header as Armagh were forced to defend for long periods.
Distillery have now claimed just two points from the last 18 available while City have moved four points clear of basement side Loughgall.
