Gary Hamilton scored a hat-trick in the first 12 minutes to ensure the Glens maintained their three-point lead. Hamilton rifled home the first in the opening minute after confusion in the home defence and added his second just four minutes later.
On 12 minutes the striker scored from a rebound after Andy Coleman had parried.
Newry came into the game and David Ward and Paddy Quinn had chances before Michael Halliday netted on 47 minutes after good work by Peter McCann.
Ward flashed his header wide while Quinn brought a fine save from Morris and had two efforts blocked by Paul Leeman.
