Kenny to return for FAI Cup final
Derry City manager Stephen Kenny
Stephen Kenny will be in Dublin for the decider against St Partrick's
Stephen Kenny will return from his duties as Dunfermline boss to take charge of Derry City in the FAI Cup decider against St Pat's on 3 December.

Kenny saw his City side pipped to the Eircom Premier Division title by Shelbourne on Friday night despite a 1-0 victory over Cork City.

It was not clear whether it was the Dubliner's last game with Derry.

However, the club have confirmed that Kenny will be back as manager for the last time for the Lansdowne Road final.

Meanwhile, Kenny remained upbeat after missing out on the title on goal difference.

"We've won one trophy, still have the FAI Cup final to play and have lost the league on goal difference - the players have been tremendous," he said.

"There have been crowds of seven and eight thousand throughout the season here at the Brandywell and that is worth more than any championship."

Derry captain Peter Hutton believes Kenny has secured a bright future for the club.

"It is very disappointing, especially for the fans," said the defender.

"But we can be proud of what we have achieved throughout the season and we still have the FAI Cup final to look forward to.

"Over the two years that Stephen (Kenny) has been here the club has shown so much progression.

"He's left a legacy of sheer professionalism within the club and hopefully that can be maintained.

"We would have liked to send Stephen off with a bit of silverware - maybe we still can in a couple of week's time."
