Ballymena recorded their first away win of the season thanks to Randal Reid's 44th minute winner at Inver Park. Reid got ahead of his marker to meet Darren Murphy's cross from the left and scored from eight yards out.
The match was a scrappy affair with Larne's best chance falling to Gary Rafferty but his late header went wide.
United had gone eight matches without a win prior to this game while the Inver Park men were under the charge of new manager Paul Curran for the first time.
