Tomasz Grzegorczyk scored the goal which kept Jim Hagan's Larne well in contention for a quarter-final place in the CIS Insurance Cup. The midfielder from Poland struck from six yards after a Liam Mullan cross from the byeline on 38 minutes.
In the seocnd half Glenavon, without a point in the competition, were denied by a superb double save by home goalkeeper Chris Keenan.
He saved from Ciaran Quinn and then stopped Gerard McMahon's follow-up.
Larne could then have gone two up but Grzegorczyk's header from another Mullan cross was pushed on to the bar by Glenavon keeper Paul Rice.
Larne are now second in Group C, ahead of Lisburn Distillery on goal difference.
