Blues boss David Jeffrey praised his players after the second leg |
Linfield manager David Jeffrey was delighted with his team's display in the 2-2 draw with Gorcia in the Champions League qualifying round tie. Wednesday night's second leg result in Slovenia was not enough for the Blues as they went out 5-3 on aggregate.
"It would not be an understatement to say I feel absolutely ecstatic," Jeffrey told BBC Sport.
"Our football was first rate and we should have won, and that compliment was paid by their manager."
He added: "We were disapppointed to miss a penalty, we were denied another penalty which was clear cut and we hit the bar.
"We were 2-1 down after 84 minutes in searing heat but we came back with a performance, attitude and drive at the very end.
"We've had a saying this week - 'We're not here to lose because we are the super Blues'.
"I am just delighted and very proud of my players."
