Cork boss Damien Richardson saw his team make progress |
Cork skipper Dan Murray scored the goal which gave City a 2-1 aggregate success in Wednesday night's Champions League first qualifying round game in Cyprus. The home side pressed in the first half and were denied by a series of superb saves from Michael Devine.
Polish striker Lukasz Sosin fired home on 50 minutes to put Appollon ahead.
But Murray headed in the leveller from Neale Fenn's 74th-minute corner to set up a second qualifying round encounter with Red Star Belgrade.
Cork created an excellent opening midway through the first half but Roy O'Donovan saw his shot saved by Ales Chvalovsky.
