Marty Verner hopes to stay at Glenavon for 2006-07 |
Marty Verner hopes to celebrate his Harp player of the month award by signing a new contract with Glenavon. The former Bangor striker scored the winner against Limavady as Glenavon secured Premier League survival on the final day of the campaign.
Verner said he wanted to sign a fresh deal at Mourneview Park but wanted certain assurances first.
"I am looking for an idea of the club's plans for strengthening the squad next season," he said.
"I will be down on Thursday night to talk to the board and the gaffer.
"I have a few questions, and if I get the right answers I will be staying at Glenavon.
"It was disappointing to have to wait until the last day of the season to be sure of staying up. We do not want to be going through that again."
Verner was voted the Irish League's top performer for April by the NI Football Writers' Association.
