Sean Ward scored Glentoran's second goal |
Glentoran ensured a second place league finish with this thumping victory. Vincent Sweeney was sent-off on 40 minutes for a second bookable offence and Colin Nixon fired in the opener from two yards out after 48 minutes.
Peter McCann teed up Sean Ward who scored with an excellent strike from 16 yards out nine minutes later.
Mark Glendinning finished from inside the box on 65 and Michael Halliday tapped in on 79 after Stuart Addis saved Chris Morgan's turn and shot.
Gary Browne, Gavin Melaugh, Willo McDonagh and Halliday all went close for the Glens early on while Paul Brown fired over from Sweeney's knockdown for the Sky Blues.
Having been booked for a foul on Glendinning, former Limavady player Sweeney was dismissed five minutes before the break when he received a second yellow for a terrible tackle on Browne.
Full-back Nixon gave his side the lead after Melaugh's corner had been headed across goal by Glendinning.
After Ward's fine strike, Melaugh and Browne played their part in setting up Glendinning for number three and then Halliday completed the rout.
