Jimmy Brown takes over from Tommy Kincaid at Glenavon |
Former Glentoran assistant manager Jimmy Brown is to take over as Glenavon boss following the sudden departure of Tommy Kincaid. Brown left Glentoran during the close season after failing to agree terms on a new contract.
"There is work to be done, I am in no doubt about that. But I am confident in my ability," said Brown.
Kincaid's departure from newly-promoted Glenavon was the result of differences with the Mourneview Park board.
Brown, who famously led 'B' Division Carrick Rangers to Irish Cup glory and Europe in 1976, will have his first game in charge on Tuesday when Glenavon host Finn Harps in a pre-season friendly.
Glenavon chairman Roy Ferguson said they had considered a number of candidates for the post.
"We are pleased to secure the services of Jimmy Brown. He is such as experienced football man," said Ferguson.
"He impressed us with his credentials, experience and plans for Glenavon."
