Tommy Kincaid led Glentoran back to the Irish Premier League |
Newly-promoted Glenavon have parted company with manager Tommy Kincaid in a shock development. The Lurgan club was due to make an official announcement on Tuesday.
A club source indicated there had been a "difference of policy" between the Mourneview Park board and the manager who recently led them to promotion.
Kincaid was appointed in January 2004 and, although the club were relegated months later, they won a play-off with Crusaders to come straight back up.
Kincaid had been due to begin a new contract with the Lurgan club on 1 August and said he was "gutted and devastated" to be leaving Mourneview Park.
He took the Lurgan Blues to three cup finals during his tenure, winning two and losing one.
Glenavon are the second top flight club to lose their manager in a week following Liam Beckett's sudden departure at Cliftonville.
