Liam Beckett has left Cliftonville after a year in charge at Solitude |
Liam Beckett has resigned as manager of Irish Premier League club Cliftonville. Beckett said he was departing Solitude because of what he felt was a lack of support from the club's board after a fall-out with keeper Paul Straney.
The Ballymoney man added that the row was over attempts to bring former Ballymena United keeper Robert Robinson to the north Belfast club.
Beckett's assistant manager Eddie Patterson has been put in charge of first team affairs.
"The management committee would wish to put on record their thanks for his efforts during his time at Solitude," the board said in statement.
Beckett succeeded Marty Tabb as Cliftonville boss in June last year after a spell in charge of First Division outfit Moyola Park.
