Mackey is handed trial by Blues
Linfield manager David Jeffrey
David Jeffrey will assess on-trial striker Ben Mackey
Former Coventry City striker Ben Mackey has been handed a chance to impress Linfield manager David Jeffrey.

The 20-year-old will have a one-week trial at Windsor Park, with the possibility of becoming a permanent signing ahead of the new season.

Mackey, who has been training with Walsall, will be included in the Blues' squad for friendlies against Carrick Rangers and Ballyclare Comrades.

Meanwhile Larne defender Jeff Hughes has been linked with a move to Windsor.

The teenager has failed to agree terms with Lincoln City after spending two weeks on trial at Sincil Bank.
