Conor Forker was on target for Armagh |
Armagh City heaped more pressure on Glentoran manager Roy Coyle with a thumping win at Holm Park on Saturday. Conor Forker scored just before the break, Barry Meehan headed in the second on 58 minutes and Anto Reilly's spectacular overhead kick made it 3-0.
Chris Morgan scored twice within a minute to give the Glens hope but Reilly scored his second soon after.
A superb volley from David Hawthorne in the final minute compounded the agony for the struggling Oval outfit.
Jamie Reed had several chances for Glentoran in the first half while, at the other end, Shane Coney's weak header was well saved by Elliott Morris.
Forker slipped the ball under Morris for the opener and Meehan added the next with a downward header.
The third arrived three minutes later, Reilly netting with style after David Ward had an effort blocked by Glens stopper Morris.
 | I'm a fighter, not a quitter |
Meehan, Liam Cullen and Forker all went close to adding to the tally before Morgan stroked home on 68 and converted a simple tap-in a minute later.
Reilly reacted quickly to fire home a loose ball after 75 after Morris saved from Forker and then Hawthorne completed the rout.
Despite the latest defeat, Glentoran boss Coyle insisted that he would not walk away from the Oval job.
"I'm a fighter, not a quitter and I will fight on as long as I am allowed to fight to take Glentoran back to the top," Coyle told the Sunday Life.
"I am firm in my resolve and my belief in my ability. I will not walk away. This is a time for cool heads, not rash decisions."
Coyle is under contract at Glentoran for another 20 months and the club would be forced to pay him major compensation if they dispensed with his services.
