Tommy Wright was in charge for less than two seasons |
Former Northern Ireland keeper Tommy Wright has resigned as manager of Irish Premier League side Limavady United. Wright has been linked with the vacant post at Ballymena United where many consider him the favourite to succeed the sacked Kenny Shiels.
However, Wright said he was standing down because of a lack of support locally and the club's failure to apply for a European licence.
If they had held a licence they could have played in the Intertoto Cup.
Wright is now expected to have talks with Ballymena about becoming then ew boss at the Showgrounds.
Ballymena have already interviewed former NI midfielder Michael O'Neill, Omagh's Paul Kee, and Joe McCall who was assistant to Shiels at the club.
