Second-placed Glentoran fell further behind leaders Linfield when they failed to find a way past Portadown at Shamrock Park. The Glens went close in a tense finish with substitute Stephen Parkhouse seeing a shot strike the crossbar.
Mark Glendinning had a late effort blocked by Ports keeper David Miskelly while Elliott Morris saved well at the other end to deny Kyle Neill.
Champions Glentoran are now seven points pacesetters Linfield.
