 | CIS CUP FINAL |
Glentoran manager Roy Coyle says he is looking for a positive reaction from his players after the 3-0 defeat by Linfield in Saturday's CIS Cup final. "I have no complaints about the outcome of the game but the measure of a team is how they bounce back and hopefully I can get a reaction from the lads.
"To go 1-0 down after three minutes hurt but the second goal three minutes into the second half was a killer.
"The timing of the goals affected our confidence and our heads then dropped."
The Glens boss says he felt the game had passed his team by at that stage and indicated that he did not see the penalty incident in which Elliott Morris pushed Peter Thompson inside the area.
"I didn't see the build-up to the penalty but I'm sure the cameras caught it and I'll watch it and then give my opinion."
Coyle expressed disappointment that his side failed to deal with the aerial threat posed by their Big Two rivals.
"We know Linfield score goals from crosses so we prepared all week for that and detailed players to do certain jobs but unfortunately Glenn Ferguson scored from two headers.
"It shouldn't happen, but that's football for you.
"We have lost key players this season and we are all hurting after this defeat but this is December and it's the first time we have lost this season.
"The players know they let the club and the supporters down today," concluded Coyle.
