Lisburn Distillery's Damien McLaughlin scored the only goal of the game after just two minutes to condemn Ards to their ninth successive league defeat. Former Glentoran midfielder McLaughlin headed in unchallenged from a Francis Murphy cross after John Martin's pass had split the Ards defence.
Ards had their chances to gain their first point of the season.
Avon Jephcot headed straight at keeper Michael Dougherty who also saved from Andrew Waterworth.
In the second half Distillery pressed to extend their slender lead but were thwarted when Ryan Hill cleared off the line from a McLaughlin header.
The result moves Paul Kirk's Whites up three places to sixth in the league table.
