Roy McCreadie's Newry City are safe for another season |
Newry City guaranteed Irish Premiership status again after a hard-earned victory over struggling Crusaders at the Showgrounds. The industrious Robbie Farrell got Newry's opener and then right on the full-time whistle Derek Donohoe made sure of the points with the second.
The win stops a run of three successive defeats for Roy McCreadie's side.
The Crues will not have many complaints after goalkeeper Neil Armstrong made string of excellent saves.
However, there was little he could do about Newry's opener in the 67th minute when Farrell stabbed home a rebound after Stephen Ferguson's shot rebounded off a post.
Newry found difficulty in putting Crusaders away until Donohoe's great run and strike in stoppage time.
