Paul McAreavey put Linfield into the lead against Lisburn Distillery |
Linfield will face holders Glentoran in the final of the CIS Insurance Cup for the second year running after beating Lisburn Distillery 5-0 at Seaview. Paul McAreavey got the opener with an overhead kick on the half hour mark.
Glenn Ferguson's deflected shot made it 2-0 four minutes later with Oran Kearney heading in the third goal nine minutes into the second half.
Pat McShane got a 58th-minute penalty after a handball with sub David Larmour making in five in stoppage-time.
It was a hugely disappointing night for Distillery whose last appearance in the final was back in 1994-95.
They went behind with midfielder McAreavey scoring in the six-yard box after a cross from McShane.
Then a slip by Conor Hagan saw Peter Thompson holding the ball up before supplying Ferguson to make it eight goals in nine matches against the Whites.
Kearney headed in the third, needing treatment after being injured in a collision with Whites keeper Philip Matthews.
McShane scored the spot-kick after Paul Muir's handling offence and Larmour completed the rout with virtually the last kick of the game.
