Michael Halliday continued his goal-scoring run |
Two early goals from Michael Halliday set Glentoran on their way to this comfortable win over a disappointing Larne side at Inver Park. Halliday fired Glentoran ahead in the second minute and superbly headed the second goal eight minutes later.
Mark Dickson then missed a chance for Larne before Mark Glendinning's goal put Glentoran 3-0 up at the break.
Shaun Holmes notched Glentoran's fourth two minutes after half-time and Chris Morgan stuck the fifth on 70 minutes.
Halliday could have completed his hat-trick in the first half but he chipped the chance over the top.
The scoreline could have been even worse for Larne as their goalkeeper Alex Spackman made several fine saves.
Glentoran boss Roy Coyle missed the game because he is in hospital for a minor hand operation.
His assistant Jimmy Brown took charge of the Glens for the game.
