Stephen Kenny was with Bohemians for two and a half years |
Stephen Kenny has emerged as a possible contender for the Derry City manager's post just hours after losing his job as boss of Bohemians. Derry have yet to name a permanent successor to Gavin Dykes who quit the Candystripes in May.
Player Peter Hutton has been in temporary charge and has done well with Derry undefeated in six matches.
However, the long-serving defender said he would rather concentrate on playing and did not want to manage just yet.
Kenny, who guided Longford to promotion before getting the Bohs post, is reported to have admirers on the Derry City board.
But, in the immediate aftermath of Wednesday's dismissal, Kenny said he would have to consider whether he wanted to go straight into another job.
Kenny's sacking came a day after the Dalymount Park club crashed out the the Uefa Cup, losing 3-1 at home to Levadia Tallinn.
