Moore gives Shels Euro hope
Shelbourne manager Pat Fenlon
Pat Fenlon's Shelbourne will have high hopes in the second leg
A late Alan Moore goal has given Eircom League side Shelbourne hope against Hajduk Split in the Champions League.

The Dubliners looked to be heading for a two-goal first leg deficit in Croatia but Moore's goal saw Pat Fenlon's men come away with just a 3-2 defeat.

The Premier Division leaders got the ideal start with Glen Fitzpatrick scoring after just four minutes.

But Hajduk Split responded with goals from Dragan Blatnjak (18 and 85 mins) and Petar Suto (48).

Fitzpatrick bundled home the opening goal in just the fourth minute from an Moore cross.

Blatnjak levelled in the 18th minute and Hadjuk continued to press forward forcing David Crawley to clear a Turkovic header off his own line in the final minute of the first half.

Just after the break, Hadjuk went in front when Suto finished off a Natko Racki cross.

Although Shelbourne's Jason Byrne hit the bar the visitors looked in serious trouble when Blatnjak headed home Hadjuk's third goal with five minutes left.

But Moore converted after a goalmouth scramble to score what could be a vital second away goal for Fenlon's men.
