Former Nottingham Forest striker Nigel Jemson has agreed to stay with Irish League club Ballymena United until the end of the season.

Jemson's short-term contract with the County Antrim side ended after Saturday's 3-0 win over Cliftonville.

The 34-year-old had originally turned down terms to extend his contract but after further talks on Sunday decided to accept.

"I always wanted to stay with Ballymena," said Jemson.

"I have enjoyed playing in the Irish League."

Jemson is due to sign his contract on Monday, so he will be eligible to play in the fifth round of the Nationwide Irish Cup.

The draw will be held in Belfast on Wednesday.
