John Devine earned one Northern Ireland cap |
John Devine has been appointed as the new manager of Premier Division Larne. The former Glentoran and Glenavon centre-back has been on the playing staff at Inver Park since the start of this season.
Devine, who earned one Northern Ireland cap, takes over from Tommy Kincaid who resigned on Monday, along with assistant David McCallan.
Neil Candlish, another senior player at Larne, has been confirmed be Devine's number two.
McCallan revealed he had turned down the opportunity to take over the Inver hot seat following Kincaid's resignation.
"The job was offered to me but I had resigned in principle with Tommy. Anyway, I would not have had the time to devote to being a manager," said McCallan who runs a Belfast sportswear business.
McCallan agreed to take charge of the first team for Tuesday night's rearranged Daily Mirror Irish League game against Institute but stressed it was for one game only.
The new management team's first game in charge will be Saturday's Premier Division match away to Linfield.
