Omagh win Tyrone derby
Dungannon 0-2 Omagh Town

Omagh boss Roy McCreadie
Roy McCreadie's side lost their opening CIS game against Cliftonville

Goals from Austin Friel and Mickey Ward earned Omagh Town a 2-0 win over Dungannon Swifts in Friday's CIS Cup tie at Stangmore Park.

Omagh's superior finishing was the difference between the two teams.

Dungannon goalkeeper Johnny Pollock came to his team's rescue in the fifth minute when he made a fine fingertip save to deny a header from Paddy McLaughlin.

Peter Ward was pressed into action at the other end of the field in the 17th minute when he stopped a 22 yard free-kick from Dungannon's Johnny Topley.

Omagh's lead goal came two minutes later with Austin Friel able to run unchallenged to score after the home defence had pushed out for offside.

The clinching second goal came in the 67th minute with Ivan Sproule's great run down the right followed by a precise finish from Mickey Ward.

Late on, Dungannon nearly pulled a goal back with Rodney McAree's header glancing the top of the Omagh crossbar.
