Glentoran striker Andy Smith will be a target for scouts |
Irish League's shooting star Andy Smith could be on the move following his top class showing against Spain on Wednesday.
The Glentoran striker caught the eye again in front of a number of scouts who watched Northern Ireland hold the Spaniards to a scoreless draw at Windsor Park.
Northern Ireland boss Sammy McIlroy was particularly impressed with the 23-year-old Lisburn-born Smith, who found the target 35 times in the domestic game last season.
''Andy's fitness for an Irish league player is quite unbelievable,'' said McIlroy.
He has courage and endeavour and I'm sure clubs will be queuing up to sign him if they're watching this type of match.''
It was the all-action Smith's second match for Northern Ireland following his debut in a friendly against Italy last week.
''It was his first full competitive game, and he just never stopped working. He always asks questions of defences,'' said McIlroy who was proud of his side's overall performance.

''There was no doubt it was a fantastic performance. Of course we rode our luck a little because Spain are a world-class side and would pose any team problems.
''But to be honest I really do think we could have won the game as we had the best chance of the match.
''The effort, commitment and passion was as good as I have ever seen it either as a player of manager.
''I thought that Maik Taylor had a stormer. When you are put under the cosh you need a goalkeeper who can make vital stops.
''My back four were also outstanding. I have said I want George McCartney and Aaron Hughes to be my pairing in the centre and they can play at this level for a at least another 10 years.''
