Marc McCann spent four seasons at Mourneview Park |
Marc McCann is being linked with a move to Portadown after revealing he wants away from Glenavon.
McCann, who had a release clause in his contract enabling him to move if the Lurgan club avoided relegation, said he needed a fresh start.
The 22-year-old university undergraduate played four seasons at Mourneview but feels a new club would give him a better chance of winning silverware.
"I do not want to go through another season like the one which has just finished," said McCann.
"I have ambition to win things and it does not look like I can do that at Glenavon."
McCann felt the club had let many of its best players go in cost-cutting measures and that there was little prospect of quality signings during the close season.
Another Glenavon player, defender Colin Russell, has attracted the interest of Crusaders.
But young prospect Andrew Hamilton is staying at Mourneview, having just signed a one-year contract.
