Kerr hit by further withdrawals
Republic of Ireland and Tottenham striker Robbie Keane
Keane has a knee injury
Wolves winger Mark Kennedy and Leeds United defender Gary Kelly have become the latest players to pull out of the Ireland squad for Wednesday's friendly against Scotland.

On Sunday morning, Robbie Keane and Damien Duff had to cry off from new manager Brian Kerr's first match in charge.

Kennedy suffered a hamstring injury in Wolves' 4-1 defeat by Brighton on Saturday.

Kelly played the full 90 minutes in Leeds' win over West Ham but he has had to withdraw from the Irish squad because of shin splints.

Duff missed Blackburn Rovers' 1-0 home win over Southampton on Saturday with a hamstring injury.

Keane, meanwhile, hobbled off after 21 minutes with a knee ligament injury in Tottenham's victory over Sunderland at White Hart Lane.

Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle said that Keane would have a scan on Sunday to determine the extent of the damage which has ruled him out of Brian Kerr's first match in charge.

"It looks as if Robbie has just tweaked the ligament in his knee," said Hoddle.

There is no cause for panic because of these late withdrawals

"We cannot at this point in time say how many days or weeks Robbie will be absent."

Kerr will learn on Sunday whether First Division Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Mark Kennedy will be able to link up with the rest of the Irish squad in Kilmarnock.

The Dubliner started in his club's 4-1 defeat away to lowly Brighton on Saturday, but was substituted because of a hamstring problem.

"There is no cause for panic because of these late withdrawals," said Ireland boss Kerr.

"Originally I named a 26-man panel to cope with these situations and I know I must be patient.

"We can always call up from the Under-21 squad on duty against the Scots at Kilmarnock on Tuesday night," added Kerr.

Revised Ireland squad:
Goalkeepers: Shay Given (Newcastle United), Dean Kiely (Charlton Athletic), Nick Colgan (Hibernian).
Defenders: Ian Harte (Leeds United), Gary Breen (West Ham United), Kenny Cunningham (Birmingham City), John O'Shea (Manchester United), Stephen Carr (Tottenham Hotspur), Richard Dunne (Manchester City), Steve Finnan (Fulham), Andy O'Brien (Newcastle United).
Midfielders: Matt Holland (Ipswich Town), Colin Healy (Celtic), Mark Kinsella (Aston Villa), Lee Carsley (Everton), Rory Delap (Southampton), Stephen McPhail (Leeds United).
Forwards: Kevin Kilbane (Sunderland), Clinton Morrison (Birmingham City), Gary Doherty (Tottenham Hotspur), David Connolly (Wimbledon), Steven Reid (Millwall).
