Irish may appoint within a week
Former Northern Ireland manager Bryan Hamilton
Bryan Hamilton has interviewed every candidate
The Football Association of Ireland's managerial advisor Bryan Hamilton is understood to be handing in his shortlist of six candidates for the vacant Irish job on Tuesday.

Former Northern Ireland boss Hamilton has been interviewing candidates in recent weeks and the expectation is that the new manager could be unveiled within the next 10 days.

The next stage of the process will see FAI officers Milo Corcoran, Kevin Fahy, John Delaney interview the six candidates on Hamilton's list.

An FAI source confirmed to BBC Sport Online on Tuesday that the process "could be concluded within a week".

More than half-a-dozen people have been linked with the job to succeed Mick McCarthy who resigned in November.

These include Kenny Dalglish, former Japan boss Philippe Troussier, Bryan Robson, Joe Kinnear, Kevin Moran, John Aldridge, George Burley, Peter Reid, Frank Stapleton and FAI technical director Brian Kerr.

The Republic of Ireland's next game is a friendly against Scotland on 12 February.
