Chelsea midfielder Scott Parker has accepted he is unlikely to feature in the England squad for Euro 2004. Parker was a 78th-minute substitute in the friendly against Sweden on Wednesday and has made only one other substitute appearance for England.
"I think it will be tough to get in the squad now," he said.
"Hopefully I can persuade the manager by playing well for Chelsea but there are many good players in my position in the country."
Parker's 10m transfer from Charlton to Chelsea in January was expected to raise his profile in the eyes of England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson.
However, he still appears to be behind a group of midfielders, including Chelsea team-mates Joe Cole and Frank Lampard, in the England pecking order.
Parker said he would now be concentrating on Chelsea's Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal and their Premiership challenge.
"The game on Tuesday against Arsenal is a massive one for Chelsea and the league is still in sight," he said.
"We do believe it could happen for us in either competition."
