NI squad behind Worthington - Feeney
Northern Ireland striker Warren Feeney has given his support to manager Nigel Worthington ahead of Saturday's friendly with Serbia at Windsor Park.
Worthington's contract expires next month and Cardiff City player Feeney wants him to remain in charge for the European Championship qualifiers.
"Everyone wants to play for him and hopefully he can sort it out with the Irish FA," said Feeney.
"He's respected by the players and he's full of enthusiasm."
He added: "Nigel has played at the top level and has the right coaching staff behind him.
"He joins in with training and the enthusiasm and urgency is there."
Feeney has struggled to break into the Cardiff first team this season and has played mostly for the reserves.
The 28-year-old is determined to impress if given his chance on Saturday and he's quick to point out that the game will be friendly in name only.
"We were disappointed not to qualify for the World Cup but we are going in the right direction," said Feeney.
"There's a good bunch of lads here - sometimes in the past there were a lot of pull-outs but there's only one for this game and that says a lot.
"As soon as we met Nigel drummed it into us that we don't see it as a friendly.
"It is a chance to get a game, get another cap and we want to put in a good performance at Windsor Park.
"We want to get into the habit of winning games again. We're going into this confident and looking to win."
