Steven Davis says NI owe their fans a big performance in Prague

Steven Davis wants Northern Ireland to finish their World Cup qualifying campaign on a high against the Czech Republic in Prague on Wednesday.

Hopes of qualification are effectively out of the question after last month's defeat by Slovakia but Davis says the travelling fans deserve a good show.

"The higher up the table we finish the better it will be for our seeding for the Euro 2012 qualifiers," said Davis.

"It definitely helps your cause - we've seen that in the last two campaigns."

"There is of course a very slim chance we could finish second best but it looks dead in the water.

"But that will not stop us going out on a high as none of us want to repeat the feelings we had after the Slovakia match.

"The best way to get that out of our minds is to get a good result in Prague.

"The Czechs have really improved as the campaign has gone on and they also have something to play for in front of their own crowd," added the Rangers midfielder.

The hosts still have an outside chance of a place in the top two while Northern Ireland, who are without several regular players, must win convincingly in Prague and hope that Slovenia lose to San Marino.
