Nigel Worthington reveals he would be happy to stay on as manager of Northern Ireland
Nigel Worthington has revealed he wants to stay on as Northern Ireland manager for the Euro 2012 qualifiers.
Worthington's contract expires with the game against the Czech Republic on 14 October but the IFA has already said it wants him to remain in charge.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed it. It has been a great experience and has added to me as a manager," said Worthington.
"If my ideas on moving forward are the same as the IFA's there is no reason why we cannot sort something out."
Worthington took over from Lawrie Sanchez as NI manager in June 2007.
Northern Ireland have won four of their nine World Cup qualifiers but their hopes of making the finals in South Africa were effectively ended by a 2-0 home defeat by Slovakia in September.
Irish FA president Raymond Kennedy had already made it clear the association wanted the former Norwich City boss to stay on.
Worthington added: "I have spoken with the IFA and they are happy with what I am looking for from the point of view of moving things forward.
"I have listened to them on what their ideas are."
