The IFA wants Nigel Worthington to stay on as NI manager
Irish FA president Raymond Kennedy has announced that Nigel Worthington will be offered a new two-year contract to stay on as Northern Ireland manager.
Worthington's current deal expires in December - after the end of the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign.
"We want to send out a message to clubs that Nigel is our man and we do not want to let him go," Kennedy told the Sunday Life newspaper.
"The financial package to have Nigel as our manager has been money sell spent."
Northern Ireland have risen to 27th in the latest Fifa rankings and are second in their World Cup qualifying group.
Former Norwich and Leicester boss Worthington took over from Lawrie Sanchez as NI manager in June 2007.
"I want Nigel to lead us into the next European Championship qualifiers. He has proved to be a terrific Northern Ireland manager," added Kennedy.
