Capello showed his anger on the touchline against Slovenia
England boss Fabio Capello is ready to show his ruthless streak if his players do not tighten up defensively.
The Italian was left irritated after a lapse in concentration allowed Slovenia to score in England's 2-1 friendly win.
If England beat Croatia on Wednesday they will book their place at the 2010 World Cup finals and Capello has issued a thinly-veiled warning to his squad.
"Sometimes I shout. But this time not I will explain what I want them to do - if they want to stay with me," he said.
England have kept a clean sheet in just seven of Capello's 17 games in charge since December 2007 and there are signs he is becoming frustrated.

"I was not happy to concede a late goal because the concentration was not good in the last four or five minutes," said Capello after the Slovenia match.
"I want the players to focus and concentrate on every minute of the game.
"During training we tried some movements. But I didn't see them on the pitch. I was not happy about that.
"The mistake for me is when the players don't make the movements I ask."
Two of the summer's big money Premier League transfers came in for criticism after the Slovenia match with Liverpool's £18m right-back Glen Johnson and Manchester City's £22m centre back Joleon Lescott both at fault for Slovenia's goal.
Capello denied claims that Johnson, who was hailed for his display in England's 2-2 draw with the Netherlands in August, is England's weakest link.
"Don't worry. I have no problem with Glen Johnson," urged Capello, though Slovenia boss Matjaz Kek pinpointed the Liverpool player as a possible defensive weakness.
"Glen Johnson is a very dangerous player," said Kek.
"Stopping him was very important. But when you play in such an offensive way it leaves a lot of space behind.
"I have seen England two or three times. I knew we could get to the goal on that side."
England midfielder Frank Lampard gave his backing to Johnson, a former Chelsea team-mate.
"I think he is a fantastic right-back and his club form over the last 18 months has been superb," said Lampard.
"Sometimes when you play for England, the players will come under scrutiny but he has given us an extra dimension on the right. He is a great player."
