Gordon has made just 11 appearances for Sunderland this term
Sunderland manager Ricky Sbragia has told George Burley to concentrate on his job as Scotland manager, rather than affairs at the Stadium of Light.
Burley has warned goalkeeper Craig Gordon his place as Scotland's regular number one is under threat since he has lost his club place to Marton Fulop.
"George should just really concern himself with managing Scotland," said the Scottish boss of Sunderland.
"He is obviously talking to Craig, but I pick the team, I make the decisions."
Gordon's lack of first team action has been a worry for Burley, with Fulop expected to retain his place for Sunderland's home game against Tottenham on Saturday.
The former Hearts keeper was sidelined with an ankle injury and has not been able to reclaim his starting place from the in-form Hungarian.
However, Sbragia fully expects record signing Gordon, who has been capped 35 times, to feature in Scotland's World Cup qualifier against the Netherlands on 28 March.
"What George can do is not play him, it's as simple as that," said Sbragia.
"If George doesn't think he is capable of playing, then don't play him.
"But I'll put my money on him playing against Holland, I'll tell you that now, when it comes.
"I don't tell George who to pick, and I would imagine Craig Gordon will play for Scotland."
