Gordon faces a battle to retain his Scotland jersey
Scotland boss George Burley has warned keeper Craig Gordon that his place is under threat for this month's World Cup qualifier against the Netherlands.
Burley expressed concern after the Sunderland keeper, 26, lost his first-team place to Hungarian Marton Fulop.
"Naturally, you want your players to be playing first-team football on a regular basis," he said.
The Scotland boss hinted that Rangers keeper Allan McGregor was in his thoughts because of his excellent form.
Gordon is vying with Fulop for the goalkeeper's jersey at the Black Cats after recently recovering from an ankle injury.
His appearance in the FA Cup fifth-round defeat by Blackburn on 4 February was his first since November.
Since then he has found himself back on the bench for the Premier League games against Stoke and Arsenal.
"We know what Craig can do and we still have a few weeks before the Holland game, so it is something I am keeping an eye on," added Burley.
"Allan has been in excellent form for Rangers. He showed in our last game against Argentina that he can perform very well at international level."
Gordon joined the Black Cats from Hearts for an initial 7m in 2007.
The Scots face the Netherlands in their World Cup qualifier in Amsterdam on 28 March.
