Michael Gault earned his only cap against Georgia in March

Linfield midfielder Michael Gault has been drafted into the Northern Ireland squad for Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against San Marino.

Gault earned his only full cap when he came on as a substitute in the 4-1 friendly win over Georgia in March.

Manager Nigel Worthington needs midfield cover because of the absence of Sammy Clingan and Chris Brunt.

With Jonny Evans suspended, Chris Baird looks likely to switch to defence with Michael O'Connor in line to start.
