Everton boss David Moyes has ruled himself out of the running for the Scotland manager's post but admitted he would like the job one day. He was speaking on the day that Ladbrokes made Motherwell boss Mark McGhee favourite after a run of bets.
"One day, I would like to manage Scotland, but not at the moment," said Moyes. "I would want to be a little bit older and experienced.
"I'd like the national job, but it's not for me just yet."
The Scottish FA is expected to wait until early next year before appointing a replacement for Alex McLeish, who faces his first match in charge of Birmingham City on Sunday.
Moyes, meanwhile, takes Everton - unbeaten in seven games - to Portsmouth this weekend before facing Zenit St Petersburg at Goodison Park next Wednesday to complete qualification for the last 32 of the Uefa Cup.

But the Scot still believes he has a long way to go with his Premier League side before considering the national team post.
"If I do well enough at Everton, maybe there will be an opportunity in the future, but certainly not for a long period of time regarding me," he added.
"I still feel I have only just come into management. I am still one of the youngest about.
"But I feel the national manager's job should be for someone a bit older and nearer the end of their time in management.
"Maybe they do not always want the day-to-day involvement, but I want that at Everton."
McGhee, six years older than the 44-year-old Moyes, has emerged as 9/4 favourite with one major bookmaker.
The present Motherwell manager has previous experience with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leicester City, Reading, Brighton and Millwall.

And McLeish's former Aberdeen team-mate has received praise for taking the Fir Park side to fifth spot in the Scottish Premier League after just a few months in charge.
"I'm flattered by it, but that's all, because at the moment the right word is speculation," McGhee said of being linked to the Scotland job.
"A year ago, I had a couple of nights out with big Alex McLeish down at my home in Brighton and both of us were unemployed.
"I'm talking about less than a year ago.
"A year later, here we are and he is now a multi-million pound Premier League manager and I am being touted for the Scotland job. That's football."
