Andrew Waterworth secured victory for Northern Ireland |
Northern Ireland got their European Championship qualifying campaign back on track with this victory. Roy Millar's team, which lost 3-0 to Germany last Friday, hit the woodwork six times in the first half but still went in 1-0 down at the break.
Glentoran's Daryl Fordyce equalised before Lisburn Distillery striker Andrew Waterworth scored the winner with 15 minutes left.
"We won 2-1 but it should have been vastly more," said NI manager Millar.
He added: "We dominated the first half and could have come in four
or five goals up.
"Credit to Luxembourg, they battled and battled - but we created so many chances it was
embarrassing."
Northern Ireland face Israel at home in their next qualifier on 17 October.
