Van Persie scored on his last outing for Holland against Albania |
Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has withdrawn from the Holland squad for Wednesday's friendly with England. The 23-year-old's wife is expecting their first child.
Marco van Basten has picked AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf for the first time since becoming coach in 2004 and he replaces Ajax's Wesley Sneijder.
He has a knee injury and AZ Alkmaar's Tim de Cler will replace Barcelona defender Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who has an Achilles tendon strain.
Van Basten has insisted that Seedorf, 30, has an international future, despite slipping down the Dutch pecking order.

He said: "Clarence must compete with Rafael van der Vaart and Sneijder, for the time being they have my preference."
Surinam-born Seedorf has won 77 caps for Holland but was not included by Van Basten for their squad for the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
Van Basten added: "I will not say that Seedorf will never get a chance with me as coach but the fact is I prefer other players for now."
Seedorf's call-up came after Sneijder was injured in Ajax's 1-0 defeat by PSV Eindhoven on Sunday.
Van Basten has picked eight British-based players for the friendly in Amsterdam.
Chelsea pair Arjen Robben and Khalid Boulahrouz, Celtic duo Evander Sno and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, Wigan's Danny Landzaat, Robin van Persie of Arsenal, Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt and Blackburn defender Andre Ooijer have all received call-ups.
Van Basten has agreed to rest Manchester united goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar but there is still no place in the Holland squad for Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.
