Lawrie Sanchez has enjoyed wins over England and Spain

Sanchez was close to quitting after a 3-0 home defeat to Iceland but his team has bounced back with a win over Spain and a draw in Denmark on Saturday.

"I'd love Lawrie to remain in charge after this campaign," said Boyce.

"I am so proud at the job Lawrie has done and I would hope to sit down and see what everyone wants to do."

Sanchez cited criticism from the media as the reason why he had given consideration to quitting the role in the wake of the 3-0 loss to Iceland.

But he has since promised to see out his contract and Boyce believes Sanchez can take N Ireland to finals.

"Lawrie Sanchez will definitely be Northern Ireland's manager until the end of this campaign and, hopefully, by that stage we will be going to the European Championships," Boyce told the News Letter.

"Any decision like offering him a new contract cannot be made by me, however.

"That would have to come from the Executive Committee of the IFA.

"Northern Ireland are now a very respected side throughout Europe and Lawrie has to take a lot of the credit.

"Some of the results he has achieved would have been unthinkable not so long ago."
